Stuart L. Gordon, M.D.

About Dr. Gordon

Stuart L. Gordon, MD is a board certified, Rothman Fellowship trained Adult Reconstructive Orthopaedic Surgeon with 25 years of clinical experience. After serving as the Division Chief of the Hip and Knee Replacement Program at Cooper University Hospital, Dr. Gordon is pleased to join Valley Forge Othopaedics and the Orthopaedic Department at Phoenixville Hospital. Dr. Gordon will see patients in offices in Phoenixville, Paoli and Limerick and will be performing surgery at Phoenixville Hospital and Paoli Hospital. Dr. Gordon graduated with honors from Brown University in 1977 with a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Psychology. He received his Doctorate of Medicine degree from Jefferson Medical College in 1981. After completing two years of surgical internship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Dr. Gordon entered the Orthopaedic residency program at the New York Orthopaedic Hospital of Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City.

In 1986, he was awarded a Fellowship at the Rothman Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in adult reconstructive surgery, specializing in the surgical treatment of the arthritic hip and knee. He was board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons as of 1989, re-certified in 1999 and 2009. Dr. Gordon has been named a “Top Doc” by US News and World Report and Main Line Today magazine. He has also received multiple Patients’ Choice Awards.

Dr. Gordon had hip replacements in 2011 and 2013 and shares a common bond with his joint replacement patients. These bonds allow Dr. Gordon to build lasting relationships with his patients. He treats everyone with special care and attention. He works collaboratively with multi-discipline care teams to help each patient obtain the best result.

Evan S. Kovalsky, M.D.

About Dr. Kovalsky

Dr. Kovalsky completed his education at Princeton University, and obtained his doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Pennsylvania.   He completed an internship at Medical College of Pennsylvania and an Orthopaedic residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, followed by a Fellowship in spinal surgery at the Texas Institute for Spinal Disorders in Houston, Texas.  Dr. Kovalsky is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Kovalsky has been practicing in Norristown since 1990, and has served as team physician for the varsity football team at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School and the team physician for the PIAA Southeast Regional Wrestling Tournament.  His practice focus is in general orthopaedics, sports medicine, and in the non-surgical management of spinal disorders.

John J. Nevulis, M.D.

About Dr. Nevulis

Dr. Nevulis is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with over twenty-five years of experience.  He also is the first fellowship trained total joint surgeon from Pennsylvania Hospital, the nation’s first hospital.  His practice was established in Norristown in 1982 and he has had relationships with all three hospitals in Norristown.  He has been an attending surgeon at Mongomery Hospital, Sacred Heart Hospital and Mercy Suburban Hospital.  Presently he serves as the Medical Director of the Joint Replacement Program at Phoenixville Hospital.

Dr. Nevulis has recently published a paper related to joint replacements and ultrasound and is a clinical instructor in orthopaedic surgery at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.  In 2005, he received the Golden Apple Award from Montgomery Hospital for teaching.  He has served as the varsity football team physician for Norristown Area High School and Bishop Kenrick / Kennedy High Schools.  His focus is on joint replacements and reconstructive joint surgery. Dr. Nevulis is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Karl Rosenfeld, M.D., FACS

About Dr. Rosenfeld

Licensed in PA, NJ and DE, Dr. Rosenfeld is the founder of RSZ Orthopaedics and is considered among the most experienced physicians in the field of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Rosenfeld specializes in Arthroscopic Procedures, Sports Medicine, including ACL reconstruction, and General Orthopedics. His vast experience assures patients with any Orthopaedic condition of high quality surgical and non-operative treatment.


Formerly interviewed on the Larry King Show, a frequent lecturer and among the most respected physicians in his field, Dr. Rosenfeld is currently certified with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons, and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also the Chairman of Surgery at Phoenixville Hospital and on staff at Paoli Hospital, Paoli Surgery Center, and Limerick Surgery Center.

About Dr. Sharps

Licensed in PA, NJ and DE, Dr. Sharps is the co-founder of RSZ Orthopaedics and brings extensive experience to our practice. His expertise ranges from Spine Surgery, including minimally invasive procedures to specialized Arthroscopic Procedures of the shoulder and knee. His wealth of experience in General Orthopaedics provides quality care for all Orthopaedic conditions.


Dr. Sharps is certified by the American Board of Surgeons, and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is on staff at Paoli Hospital, Phoenixville Hospital, Paoli Surgery Center and Limerick Surgery Center. Dr. Sharps has also lectured and presented internationally on the topic of minimally invasive spine surgery for discogenic pain.

About Dr. Messina

Dr. Messina is a Harvard Fellowship-trained Shoulder/Elbow and Sports Medicine Specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency training at the University of Colorado and received his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Messina grew up in Wayne, PA. He is a graduate of Conestoga High School and Penn State University, where he received a BS in
pre-medicine from the Schreyer Honors College.


Dr. Messina has highly subspecialized fellowship training from Harvard University in comprehensive management of shoulder pathology on a full spectrum from sports related injuries to advanced arthritis requiring reconstructive, joint replacement surgery. Additionally, he has a particular interest in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine of the entire body where he employs advanced, minimally invasive arthroscopic surgical
techniques.




Dr. Messina will see patients in Phoenixville, Limerick and Paoli and will perform procedures at Phoenixville Hospital and Paoli Hospital, as well as the Surgery Center of the Main Line and Surgery Center at Limerick. With a practice philosophy of
collaborative, personalized, patient-centered care and joint decision-making, Dr. Messina welcomes new patients and accepts most major insurance programs.
